GE Aerospace Electrical Power business (Power Generation, Conversion, Distribution and Control) is leading the way in the application of advanced technologies towards the development and delivery of high-performance power products for aerospace and industrial hybrid vehicle applications.
In this role as a ‘Engineer – Mechanical Component’ you will perform mechanical design for high-speed rotating machines such as Generators and Motors for commercial aerospace applications.

 

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities

Demonstrate strong expertise in mechanical design based on fundamentals.
Good understanding and ability to perform the mechanical design considering the manufacturing and assembly feasibility
Perform the mechanical design in commercially available tools and develop the components using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirement
Provide engineering / technical support in a production environment
Willing to travel to supplier locations based on the need to support / guide manufacturing or assembly of the components
Work with technical leadership personnel / multi-functional teams to support the assigned project
Quickly adopt and deliver with minimal guidance to meet the technical and program requirements
Participate in team to address organizational initiatives
Follow recommended approaches or standard methods to meet the technical and program requirements
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate and/or present in program reviews
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering
At least 2+ years of experience in Engineering position and in performing mechanical design using NX, Unigraphics, Solidworks, Pro E or Catia or similar mechanical design tools
Desired Characteristics

Mechanical and thermal analyses for structural components
Certification in ASME Y14.5 or practical experience with GD&T.
Exposure to Stack up analysis will be added advantage
Familiar with Engineering Change (EC), Root Cause Corrective Analysis (RCCA), Cost Analysis, etc.
Knowledge of electrical machines
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Effective problem identification and solution skills
