The Lead Engineer, Gas Turbine Combustion applies fundamental design principles to ensure Gas Turbine combustion component durability and bring reliable power to the people with lower emissions. In this role, you will be responsible for design, analysis, addressing manufacturing/assembly issues, testing & validation of combustion components, leveraging best practices/lessons across frames. This role will provide opportunity to apply creativity, imagination to develop combustion system for world class gas turbine engines considering cost, reliability, operability and emissions.


Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities

Lead and execute the Mechanical design of combustion system for various gas turbine engine using sound engineering principles and adhering to the business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
Design combustion components in collaboration with team to meet program goals related to combustion system and overall gas turbine product requirements.
Perform structural and thermal durability assessment with 1D calculations and FEA analysis. Interpret the analysis results, suggest and generate the ideas to improve the combustion system design.
Demonstrate mindset of ownership and accountability to achieve goals. Solves business challenging programs, RCAs and supplier/manufacturing issue working independently/with team.
Experience with advanced manufacturing techniques for complex part production.
Think beyond existing technical solution, evaluates technical options and efficiently executes the selected technical feasible option.
Propose and contribute towards variable cost productivity for combustion components. Take an active role in the continuous improvement of processes.
Proactively collaborate with cross functional teams – Aero Thermal, operability, services, and system team for system level optimization.
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Share engineering information and promote open dialogue.
Required Qualifications

M.E / M Tech in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering
5-9 years of experience in the field of gas turbine mechanical design, development, Stackup Calculations & Lifing techniques and tools.
Desired Characteristics

Strong interpersonal, leadership skills and ability to work well in a team environment with a positive can do” attitude.
Experience with LCF, HCF, fracture mechanics, high temp creep calculations and assessment.
Thorough knowledge of applied mechanics design fundamentals.
Experience with component testing and validation.
Experience in working with supplier for part qualifications.
Fleet life management and Component Testing experience
Excellent technical articulation and presentation skills
Understanding of GE Power product line and its combustion system.
Self-starter and ability to handle multiple projects.
