Every NI Mechanical Engineer ensures that a design meets its technical specifications and business goals. You may design a variety of different projects and products, including packaging, parts, and accessories for embedded CPUs and data and image acquisition, instrumentation, motion control, and communications hardware as well as custom designed systems for specific customer applications.

Core Job Responsibilities

Create/design/model/prototype/test electronics packaging solutions for NI products
Select and approve materials, components, or mechanical hardware
Create materials processing specifications for part manufacturing
Certify and support external vendors involved in product/part manufacturing
Provide thermal and structural analyses of products
Provide manufacturing support throughout product production
Support purchasing to ensure quality delivery of all mechanical hardware
Become a leading technical resource on electronics packaging technology
Basic Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering (Minimum overall GPA 3.2 for B.S. and 3.5 for M.S.)
Strong creative design skills
Thorough understanding of fundamental design principles and process
Ideal candidates will also have some knowledge of:3D CAD software programs, particularly PTC Creo
Metal/plastic materials processing techniques
Electronics manufacturing equipment/processes
Interest in learning about and working with mechanical, manufacturing, and computer technologies
Persistently drive tasks and projects to successful completion
Take ownership of goals, schedules; manages time well
Aptitude to quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products
Demonstrated ability to:Work effectively in a cross-discipline group development environment
