SUMMARY

The Engineer position is responsible for:

The equipment reliability of the site Fire Protection and Fire Detection Systems
Technical support for the operation, testing, maintenance and design functions of the fire protection, fire detection and passive barrier systems
Essential responsibilities for this level include assisting with the support for Operations and Maintenance; assisting with the review of system and component performance and recommendations for improvement; and serving as an advocate for improving overall systems’ performance and reliability.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Nuclear Engineering
Master’s degree in a technical discipline, preferably in Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology is the equivalent of 1 year experience
EXPERIENCE

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• There is no Certification or Licensure Listed

Experience

Must be capable of attaining experience that meets a Grade of Professional Member within 5 years. This requirement includes 5 years of fire protection experience AND:

With an Engineering or Fire Protection Degree – 1 year of engineering practice
With degree in Engineering Technology – 3 years of engineering practice
With Master’s degree in Engineering or Science – 0 years of engineering practice
With Associates degree or BS in Engineering from unaccredited school – 5 years of engineering practice
With Bachelors or higher degree in other than engineering or physical science – 7 years of engineering practice
Without a degree, fire protection engineering experience must be evaluated
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and QUALIFICATIONS

•Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access
•Strong written and verbal communications skills required
•Ability to work independently and interface with all levels of personnel
•Knowledge of design, operations, maintenance and testing
•Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings
•Ability to use a personal computer and current software

 

POSITIONS

Engineer-in-Training I

EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology (Required)

• Entry Level, no prior engineering experience (Required)

 

Engineer-in-Training II

EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology (Required)

• 6 months engineering, maintenance, or operations experience (Required)

 

Mechanical Engineer/Spec Engineer

EXPERIENCE

• 1-3 years of Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, or Maintenance (required)

• Familiarity with ASME Section XI or OM Code Requirements (preferred)

 

Mechanical Engineer Sr/Spec Engineer Sr

EXPERIENCE

• 3-5 years Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, or related field (required)

• Familiarity with ASME Section XI or OM Code Requirements (preferred)

 

Mechanical Engineer Staff /Spec Engineer Staff

EXPERIENCE

• 5-8 years Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, or related field (required)

• Familiarity with ASME Section XI or OM Code Requirements (preferred)

 

Mechanical Engineer Consulting/Spec Engineer Consulting

EXPERIENCE

• 8+ years Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, or related field (required)

• Familiarity with ASME Section XI or OM Code Requirements (preferred)
