As Mechanical Design Engineer you will be a core member of the engineering team and have a direct and lasting impact on building Vay’s mobility products. You will not only own a single component but rather being able to leverage all your skills as engineer to develop and integrate new products that our customers will love.
As part of this role you drive mechanical design, the packaging and integration of our systems into our vehicles from the earliest stages to production ready stage, while considering and ensuring product level attributes, such as legal, cost, mass, manufacturability, thermal management, NVH, reliability and customer requirements.
CONCEPTION of creative mechanical (and electrical) designs for new mobility products integrating components (off-the-shelf and custom design), such as sensors, ECUs, harnesses, and more into vehicles
RESEARCH & EVALUATE various components for our systems (e.g. audio, sensors, controls,…)
DESIGN & DEVELOP: Mechanical design and packaging of components and assemblies ready for manufacturing (CAD) to meet product and system-level requirements while optimizing for product attributes (such as cost, mass, manufacturability, reliability, desirability)
BUILD & MANUFACTURE: Define make or buy strategy, Identify suppliers, be the first point-of-contact for them and manage communication or use our internal workshop for prototypes (3D printer, …)
INTEGRATE, TEST & VALIDATE: Integrate and test your prototypes/products, get feedback on them and iterate quickly
MAINTAIN and RELEASE: Top-level product CAD and BOM management, use best practices for ensuring CAD completeness and compatibility and supporting change request and release process
Experience (3+years) and knowledge in product development, packaging, and CAD design (e.g. CATIA, ProE, solidworks) from the automotive industry (either OEM, Tier1, engineering service provider, or a design company)
You have relevant work experiences in fast-moving environments like start-ups, technology companies, or technical university programs (FSAE, Formula Student,…) with a strong tech focus and a respective track record in building great mobility products
You like to build stuff and ideally, you have done some side-projects you can walk us through (please include any relevant projects in your application)
Bachelor or Master’s degree (or you are a candidate for a similar degree) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field
You have a strong affinity for electric and autonomous mobility technology and want to shape the industry with us
Creative mindset and out-of-the-box thinker that enjoys experimentation and problem solving
Fluent verbal and written English language skills
