Simply explained a solution of cellulose (which is mainly extracted from trees ) is diluted in water and then allowed to dry.

Water is then extracted from the sheet by compression and then on heating, the sheet of a paper is produced.

The whole paper goes through press and dyes and sometimes fragrance is added and the paper rolls into big rolls.

Although the invention of automated machinery lead to industrialization the paper is still made by the workers who use the same technique as used hundreds of years before the invention of paper.

In contrast to the automated machinery, the paper made by the hand are more precise and has a low cost of production.

Now the handmade papers are lighter than the machined paper and are more likely to tear.

The first paper was made in china ( that was reliable 🙂 ).

Paper with writings on it has been found as back as 8 century. Now coming to the negative side of this lots of trees and been cut down in order to obtained cellulose from the trees and some synthetic materials such as flax and cotton liners.

This also caused large scale deforestation in past century till now, Thus the effort is to recycle the used papers.

Papers made from hardwood are weaker as compared to the softwood papers. Softwood’s paper is also durable than the hardwood.

Mechanical bleaching is also used to colorize the paper as the original paper is discolored.
